Why listen mode matters
Some children absorb ideas better by hearing them — especially on a shared tablet, in the car, or when reading fatigue sets in. CROODI's Listen button reads each lesson section aloud using your device's built-in browser voices, at a calm pace parents can tune per child.
Listen is not a chatbot and does not record your child. It reads only our fixed mission and quiz text — the same words on screen, spoken aloud.
What parents control
In Manage profiles, you can pick a reading voice for each learner (or leave Automatic for a calm default on that device). You set age group, PIN, and character — read-aloud fits into the same parent-managed profile model.
Listen includes pause, resume, rewind, and speed controls where the browser supports them. We do not upload your child's voice or run open-ended AI conversation during lessons.
Tips for families
Use Listen together the first few times so you can pause and discuss new vocabulary.
Try rewind when a concept is new, and adjust speed if your child needs a slower or faster pace.
If Listen does not appear, try an updated Chrome or Safari browser on phone, tablet, or computer.
Free trial missions also include Listen on supported browsers — no account required to try it once.
How this differs from AI voice chat
Voice assistants and AI chat agents answer open questions and may store conversations. CROODI Listen only narrates curriculum you can see on screen — structured lessons and multiple-choice quizzes, with parents in control of accounts and billing.
